EXTENSION SPECIALIST – 4-H

Duties and Responsibilities: The 4H Extension Specialist provides leadership in developing, implementing, evaluating and reporting on nationally recognized and impact driven research-based extension educational programs related to the national and state identified program areas. Developing educational resources and extension/outreach publications, conducting agent in-service training, active participation in professional activities and successful pursuit of extramural funding sufficient to support an active Extension and research program are required.
Required Qualifications: An earned doctorate in field of Extension. Master’s required at time of hiring. Understanding of current trends and issues related to water resources with emphasis on Virginia and the Mid-Atlantic region. Familiar with vertebrate and invertebrate natural history, water quality and aquatic management principles. Experience (or ability) in conducting environmental education seminars, workshops and conferences (day and overnight) at the county, district, state and national levels. Active involvement in Extension and related professional organizations and committees.
