The overall process and outcome objectives for the UB Program evolve through the processes of: recruitment, enrollment, implementation of objectives, stabilization, high school graduation, college enrollment, and follow-up. The objectives are designed to provide services to students as early as middle school 8th grade and grades 9-12 with pre-college educational experiences who plan to pursue a college education but who have yet to attain a level of achievement that will enable them to perform college level work.
Academic Improvement on Standardized Test 75% of all Upward Bound participants, who at the time of entrance into the project had an expected high school graduation date during the school year, will have achieved at the proficient level during high school on state assessments in reading/language arts and math.
Project Retention 75% of 9th, 10th, and 11th grade project participants served during each school year will continue to participate in the Upward Bound Project during the next school year.
Postsecondary Enrollment 75% of all Upward Bound participants, who at the time of entrance into the project had an expected graduation date during the school year, will enroll in a program of postsecondary education by the fall term immediately following the expected graduation date from high school.
Postsecondary Persistence 70% of all Upward Bound participants who enrolled in a program of postsecondary education during the fall term immediately following high school graduation will be enrolled for the fall term of the second academic year.
