2007-08 VSU SAAC Members
Members of SAAC (Student-Athlete Advisory Committee) represent their teams in a monthly forum to discuss ideas and issues pertinent to the success of the VSU Athletics program. This forum provides the representatives the opportunity to offer input regarding Life Skills programs, athletic department policies, conference regulations and NCAA legislations that impact student-athletes.
The membership of SAAC represents the diversity of the student-athlete population (i.e. Undergraduate class, gender, ethnic). SAAC is composed of one appointed representatives from each athletic team and functions to build a better sense of community among all the athletic teams. SAAC helps to promote communication between administration, coaches and students-athletes.
Duties of the Executive Offices:
President: Crystal Hickman
- Presides over meetings.
- Serves as liaison institution's department of athletics.
- Functions as the spokesperson for institution's student-athletes.
Vice-President: Sedrick Green
- Presides over meetings when President is absent.
- Oversees subcommittees that may be formed as a response to the needs of the student-athletes.
- Exercises all functions of the President in their absence.
- Performs all duties which are required of the office by committee.
Assistant Vice-President: Edrian Pinder
- Presides over meetings when President and Vice President is absent.
- Oversees subcommittees that may be formed as a response to the needs of the student-athletes.
- Exercises all functions of the President and Vice-President in their absence.
- Performs all duties which are required of the office by committee.
Parliamentarian: Jana'e Johnson
- Responsible for maintaining order and flow of meetings.
Secretary: Bridgette White
- Responsible for keeping attendance records.
- Responsible for a summary of minutes of the meetings and historical record
Assistant Secretary: Vacant
- Responsible for keeping attendance records in the absences of the Secretary.
- Responsible for a summary of minutes of the meetings and historical record in the absences of the Secretary
Treasurer: Asya Monds
- Responsible for submitting budget requests
- Responsible for keeping written records of any money spent and/or taken in by SAAC.
