DIRECTOR FOR MEDIA INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY AND COMMUNICATION

Duties and Responsibilities: The Director for Media Information Technology and Communication Service provides overall leadership and administration for media, information technology and communication services to the School of Agriculture and its component land-grant units of teaching, research and extension. Reporting directly to the Dean of the School, the Director is primarily responsible for the assessment, development and management of a dynamic, school-wide media, information technology and communication services system designed to effectively and efficient market and supports the programmatic needs of the school and its component units.
 
Specifically, the director for Media, Information Technology and Communication Services will:
  • Assess and develop a unified strategy for outreach communications and marketing for the School of Agriculture and its component units.
  • Integrate existing resources within extension, research and academic programs to determine reallocation, out sourcing and continuation of services. 
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive staffing plan to provide high quality services to the School-wide support.
  • Maintain communication with faculty to insure effectiveness of media products and high quality of service.
  • Develop systematic mechanisms to collect data and information on the School and its components programs to develop impact statements, reports and other marketing and outreach documents.
  • Develop and maintain a dynamic School of Agriculture web site.
  • Consolidate and supervise all School of Agriculture media, information technology and communication services staff.
  • Advise the Dean on all matters pertaining to marketing, technology investments, and budget priorities.
  • Develop and maintain strategic partnerships/collaborations, internally and externally, to further the development and outreach of school efforts.
  • Represent the school and Dean on appropriate internal and external committees assigned.  
 
Qualifications and Experience: Possess an earned Masters (Ph.D or Ed.D preferred) in communications technology, adult education, or closely related discipline with minimum of 5 years of professional experience. Exhibit knowledge of and support for the philosophy and goals of the land-grant mission.  Possess a proven record of outstanding organizational development and management skills. Ability to relate to a diverse range of clientele. Possess superior creative leadership skills in planning and implementation as well as strong written and oral skills. Possess broad background knowledge in a variety of communication technology venues. Direct experience in managing a multi-service unit within higher education. Experience in supervision of highly trained personnel.
