Cold Shooting On the second day of the Bloomsburg University Basketball Classic, the Lady Trojans were matched up against the host university, Bloomsburg University. Again the Lady Trojans played a very close and tough game, but fell short 50-47. Erica Glasper couldn’t get her offense going in the first half, shooting 0 of 6 from the field and committing 3 turnovers. Janea Johnson and Katina “KT” Walker combined for 12 points and 3 rebounds. Walker who has been playing well early in season committed 4 turnovers in the first half, but she countered those turnovers with 3 steals. As a team the Lady Trojans shot an ice cold 27% from the field, hitting only 6 of 22 and an icy 20% from behind the 3-point arc. VSU rebounded the ball well on both ends of the floor with 7 offensive rebounds and 7 defensive rebounds. Jamie Kauczka with 7 points and Kait Urban with 6 points led Bloomsburg University. Gabe Miskinis contributed 5 points and a powerful 8 rebounds in the first stanza. Bloomsburg University shot 37% from field, hitting on 9 of 24, but they were awful from the charity stripe, shooting 4 of 16. The Lady Trojans were down at the half 23-19. Rebounding in the second half hurt the Lady Trojans as Bloomsburg University controlled the boards with 34 total rebounds versus VSU’s 22. The Lady Trojans improved their shooting from field in the second stanza, by dropping in 13 of 27. With Glasper struggling, Katina Walker and Janae Johnson kept the Lady Trojans in the hunt by combining for 22 points, 7 assists and 7 steals. Shooting from the 3-point line was not going well for VSU. VSU was 2 of 8 from the 3-point line and 6 of 12 from the charity stripe. Bloomsburg posted three players scoring double digits in the scorebook: Gabe Miskinis 12, Jamie and Kauczka with 15 points. In the second half Bloomsburg’s shooting improved in a major way connecting on 10 of 19 from the field and 5 of 6 from the free-throw line. For the game Bloomsburg shot 44% from the field versus VSU’s 38%.
