Benefits of MembershipSVEA State-Wide ConferencesInstructional and Professional Issues Conference. Every fall, VEA sponsors an instructional conference for all members. SVEA fully funds about 125 students annually to attend. Each chapter is allowed to send 4 students. Conference topics range from Classroom Management to Communicating with Parents to Stress Management. SVEA Delegate Assembly. Every spring, SVEA sponsors a Delegate Assembly. Professional development, as well as officer elections, occur at the Delegate Assembly. Chapters pay for their own housing and a nominal registration fee. All meals are covered by the Delegate Assembly. Every chapter is allowed to send 4 voting delegates. Local Opportunities for Workshops. As a chapter of SVEA, you have access to all the resources of the VEA, including training and professional development on the campus. Membership RebateIf you join the VEA during your first year of teaching in a school division in Virginia, you can apply to receive a rebate of $25 for every year you were a member of SVEA. For example, if you were an SVEA member for 2 years, and you teach in VA, you would receive a $50 rebate. If you join the Association in a state outside of VA during your first year of teaching, you can apply to receive a rebate of $20 for every year you were a member of SVEA. Liability Insurance Free with your SVEA membership, you have Educators Employment Liability Insurance (EEL) - $1 million in coverage. This provides coverage for incidents that may occur while you are fulfilling the requirements for your education program (i.e., field experiences, student teaching, methods courses).
