VSU Drop Home Opener

With the stands sporadically packed, the Lady Trojans of Virginia State University were more than eager to take the floor for their home opener against the Southern Virginia College Lady Knights. The Lady Trojans spiked SVC with a win in the first match, but fell short to winning the next three matches.

Veteran and Preseason All-CIAA selection #5 Lydia Harsley led VSU in kills with 9 on 28 attempts. Pershing Angel #2 Jenene Lewis captained the Lady Trojans with 23 of VSU’s 27 set assists as 2004 CIAA Rookie of the Year #8 Crystal Hickman collected 4 defensive digs.

The Lady Trojans exemplified exuberant teamwork as they had 31 kills on 104 total attacks, 11 serving aces, 18 digs, and 2 blocks.
