COURSE DESCRIPTION
This is an introductory and foundation course on computer graphics. This course includes the basic operation of computer graphic systems and software procedures. Written assignments and projects are included.
PREREQUISITES
All Level 1 Course Requirements must be fulfilled before registering for this course

COURSE OBJECTIVES
The student will:
· Become familiar and make use of hardware and software in a Macintosh environment
· Be able to adjust system controls and settings necessary to run the computer and software efficiently
· Have knowledge of and be able to prepare various file formats used for print and web media
· Begin building a vocabulary as it relates to the design industry
· Understand processes, principles, and elements used in design.
PARTICIPATION REQUIREMENTS
1. Students should have proper supplies and assignments to participate in class.
2. Students are expected to arrive for class on time
3. Students are expected to participate in every class (studio work, critiques, practice
activities, trips, etc.)
4. A grade on an assignment will represent an evaluation to the total 3 following categories:
a) Creativity/Craftsmanship=25%
This area evaluates whether or not: a) execution of assignments meets the requirements
and follows directions. b) the problem solving (the design process) involves the manipulation of the
design elements and principles of organization.
b) Presentation =25%
This category evaluates the precision, neatness, cleanliness and professional appearance of each project.
c) In Class Participation=50%
This category evaluates: a) the effective use of class time for the development and completion of work
according to the project b) motivation to seek more than is required for a problem solution.

5 Each student will be evaluated with a grade of “A” through “F” for “in class”
participation. These grades will be added up for the semester’s final grade in participation.
6. The final grade for the semester will be evaluated upon: a) the grade on the final exam =
20%, b) grades on the classroom assignments,=20% c) grades on the classroom
assignments associated with trips or lectures = 20%, d) classroom participation = 20%,
e) quiz scores = 20%.
7. The field trips or lectures are mandatory. They will be graded as assignments. If a student
does not attend a
particular trip or lecture, the grade for that assignment is zero.
8. Students are required to participate in every project during the full studio time and outside of the studio.
Evaluation
1. Project should be developed with the awareness of the professor and a portion of it should
be executed during the class periods.
2. Each student is expected to complete all assignments on time. If an assignment is turned in after the due date
and/or time of a class period, the project will not be accepted unless in case of an emergency. If it is necessary to be
absent on that day, the student should submit the assignment before the due date.
ALL PROJECTS SHOULD BE SUCCESSFULLY EXECUTED ENGAGING IN THOROUGH RESEARCH. ASSIGNMENTS MUST BE CORRECTED UNTIL THE PROJECT IS ACCURATE AND ACCEPTABLE. ALL ASSIGNMENTS NOT RECEIVED WILL EQUAL ZERO.
