The Academy for Faculty Development is designed to provide customized, university-wide opportunities for full-time and part-time faculty and staff to interact with colleagues as they enjoy professional growth.  To that end, a wide variety of collaborative faculty/staff development training programs (e.g., seminars, workshops), research projects, and other activities will be featured on a regular, year-round basis.

The quintessential nexus that exists between programs and purpose is that every activity is linked to the ultimate goals of improving the quality of instruction and administrative support at Virginia State University. To address these goals more specifically, the following foci form the core of the Academy for Faculty Development's areas of emphasis:

  • The enhancement of in-class and out-of-class teaching strategies
  • The enrichment of research and other scholarly activities
  • The development and incorporation of new instructional technologies
  • The augumentation of units' internal and external service goals
  • The provision of continuous development programs for faculty and staff
