Course Description: An introduction to the fundamental concepts of three dimensional design, form relationships of principles and elements of design. Course includes weekly critiques and discussions.

Course Objectives

A. Knowledge

1. Art terminology and vocabulary. Demonstrate a vocabulary that is useful in discussing and critiquing sculpture.
2. Works of art according to theme medium style and artist.
3. Safety rules and regulations pertaining to all processes medium and equipment.
4. Art critique and constructive criticism.

B. Skills

1. Learn to see with a greater and deeper understanding.
2. Make aesthetic judgments about art.
3. Learn to use different media and materials.
4. Perform research and communicate ideas.
5. Compare and contrast works of art.
6. Understand various purposes of art.

C. Abilities

1. Experience creating art through problem solving as a means of expressions.
2. Describe, analyze, interpret and evaluate visual works of art.
3. Understand the importance of caring for all art equipment, tools, materials and facilities.
4. Adhere to all safety rules and regulations pertaining to each process and medium.

Policy:

Students are to read the Department of Art and Design's grading and attendance policy. After having read this policy, each student will sign policy acknowledging their willingness to comply with the stated requirements.
Students are required to bring all necessary drawing tools, equipment, and related materials to class each period.
Drawings must be kept neatly in a sketchpad to be turned in for grading along with the final projects.
On time class attendance and participation are essential.
Assignments will be given at the beginning of each class.
Instructions will not be repeated.
