Field/Laboratory Assistantship Opportunity in Wetlands Ecology
Our NSF-funded project entitled, "Phosphorus Transformations in Forested Floodplains", seeks to involve undergraduate students from historically minority-dominated colleges or universities located near our fields sites (SC, NC, GA, VA), in our research. Our overall goal is to understand how floodplain forests influence phosphorus (P) concentrations in adjacent aquatic ecosystems (rivers and streams), by investigating the mechanisms responsible for P retention when river waters enter a floodplain during flooding. Therefore our investigations include floodplain and river water quality, as well as sedimentation rates, soil processes, and vegetation dynamics. To apply for this position or if you have questions about the position please contact: Dr. Megan McGroddy, megan.mcgroddy@mail.wvu.edu or (304) 293-5201
  • The National Science Foundation has awarded a three-year, ResearchExperience for Undergraduates (REU) grant beginning in June 2005.
