Welcome to the Admissions website!  We invite you to experience the beauty of Virginia State University -- located high above the Appomattox River with a magnificent view of the historic city of Petersburg . Our students experience the beauty of our campus surroundings, the knowledge provided by our diverse faculty and a community surrounded in history.

The University has a population of 4,900 students who are majoring in one of our 34 undergraduate programs leading to a bachelor’s degree, 13 masters level programs or our doctoral program in Education.

Virginia States’ family structure, small classrooms and individualized classroom instruction clearly present a unique family environment.

We are located two hours from our Nation’s capital, (Washington, D.C.); two and a half hours from the oceanfront of Virginia Beach, and 30 minutes from the State Capital, (Richmond, VA ).

The University's mission is to promote and sustain academic programs that integrate instruction, research and extension/public service in a design most responsive to the needs and endeavors of individuals and groups within its scope of influence.
