CIAA Volleyball Championship The Lady Trojans of Virginia State University battled their way to the CIAA semi-finals during the 2004 CIAA Volleyball Championship on the campus of N. C. Central University. Virginia State University completed their season with 20-10 overall record and a solid showing at the volleyball tournament. Jovonda Pettis represented the Lady Trojans of Virginia State University on the 2004 CIAA Volleyball All-Tournament Team. In three matches Pettis had a total of 15 blocks, 11 kills on 44 total attacks, and 8 service aces. Jeanene Lewis paced the Lady Trojans with 76 set assists in three matches. Senior, Myesha Ingram was VSU's dig specialist during the entire tournament with 30 digs in the first three matches. Ingram who is an All-CIAA selection this season has provided leadership for the Lady Trojans. All-CIAA performer, Monique Mason had a solid tournament especially in the first three matches with 21 kills on 58 total attacks. The Lady Trojans will be losing Andra Colbert, Myesha Ingram and Jovonda Pettis due to graduation. Their leadership on and off the floor will be tough to fill. Top returners for next season for VSU are Monique Mason, Jeanene Lewis, Crystal Hickman and Lydia Harsley. These four young ladies will be the foundation for the Lady Trojans in 2005.
