The Virginia State University Trojans were defeated by the North Carolina Central University Eagles 42-33 at O'Kelly-Riddick Stadium in Durham, North Carolina.  This game being the last one of the 2004 season, the Trojans wanted to finish their season as strong as they started.  The Eagles jumped out on top with a 14-0 first quarter lead on a 6-yd TD run by QB, Adrian Warren, and a 13-yd TD pass from Warren to Torey Ross.  The Trojan defense came up big and put points on the board on a interception by Theodore Plummer that went for the TD.This cut the Eagle's lead to 14-7.   The Eagles returned the favor and countered with a 31-yd TD interception return by Jonathan Sherrill increasing the lead 21-7.  Down by fourteen, the Trojans cut the lead right before the end of the first half when QB, Michael Terry found a wide open lane to run 47-yds for the TD cutting the lead to 21-14 at the half.

The Second half was full of turnovers for the Trojans that left them deep in the hole. Eagle QB, Adrian Warren hooked up with WR, Torey Ross for two quick TD receptions after receiving the ball deep in Trojan territory.  The TD hook-ups were for 15 and 18 yards.  The Trojans turned to "MR. Excitement", P.J. Berry. QB, Michael Terry hit P.J. Berry for a 69-yd TD pass making the score 35-21.  The Trojan defense did all they could do to get the offense the football back and did so when Pierre Lee intercepted an eagle pass.   QB, Michael Terry found Berry for another 23-yd TD pass cutting the lead to a TD.   Berry finished the game with a career high 10 receptions for 195 yds and 2 TD's.  After the Trojans regained momentum it was quickly snatched away on a Eagle TD run making the score 42-27. The Trojans managed to reach the endzone one last time on a 10-yd Td pass from Terry to Antuan Williams.  With time running out the Trojans could only watch as their impressive season came to an end.
