We, the students of Virginia State University, in our course of self-government and unification, expound a common interest in promoting brotherhood/sisterhood, contributing to the achievement of the goals and objectives of the University and intensifying student initiatives, do hereby adopt the following constitution. The relationship of the Student Government Association with the administration is not an adversary one, but one which embraces a mutuality of concern, respect, cooperativeness and dedication.  To this end, the SGA welcomes the opportunity and responsibility of contributing to the improvement of all aspects of Virginia State University’s life, i.e., the cultural, intellectual, social and moral climate, the fiscal posture and the administering of extracurricular activities through meaningful, open and honest communication among the student body, staff, faculty and administration; and to assist in providing and enhancing an environment where  human resource development, character building, integrity and effective interpersonal skills may flourish.
