You will find living in the residence halls will compliment your university experience and your education. Campus living is a unique experience, which will place you at the center of university action. You will be living with people from all parts of the world. The residence halls at VSU are designed to support, compliment, and expand your total university education by providing a variety of services, activities, programs, facilities, and living environments.

Remember that all new students MUST claim their room not later than Monday August 16, 2010 for Fall 2010 and Tuesday. January 12, 2010 for Spring 2010 or your room will be reassigned.
Students are encouraged to contact their Residence Educator if they plan to arrive later than 4:00pm on move-in day.

Early Arrivals:
|
|
Individuals who need to arrive early may find it beneficial to make arrangements with the local Hotel/Motel for accommodations. However we will not be able to accommodate early arrivals.
|
|
FRESHMEN HOUSING:
There are a few housing options available to you as you matriculate through your college experience. Freshman students living on campus usually live in gender specific residence halls. There, you will have the opportuni ty to bond with your classmates on a variety of levels, while engaging in a variety of living and learning opportunities that promote student growth and development. Freshmen do not have the option of selecting specific residence halls or roommates.
LIVING IN A COMMUNITY ENVIRONMENT:
As a member of a residence hall community, you assume the responsibility for working with your roommate and neighbors to develop and maintain a safe, comfortable, and stimulating environment. Residence hall staff members are available to help you adjust to the new environment and encourage you to become involved with people and activities.
Residence halls offer a number of amenities for the comfort and convenience of students, featuring common areas such as lounges, study rooms, reception lobbies, and recreation rooms. Soda, snack machine, a microwave, and a laundry room are located in each residence hall.
The University provides housekeeping service for common areas in the halls including bathrooms, hallways, and stairwells. It is your responsibility to keep your room clean and to maintain neatness in the surrounding areas. Residents are responsible for supplying their own personal telephone and long distance service.

As stated in the Residence Hall and Food Service Agreement, the University will make every effort to secure each student's property. However, the student agrees to accept full responsibility for loss or damage to personal property. We encourage you to consider a personal property insurance plan or renter’s insurance if you are not sufficiently covered under another insurance policy. The College does not carry insurance, which will cover losses you might incur from fire, theft or other casualty.
Our staff has been carefully selected and trained to make life in the residence halls a pleasant and positive experience for all students. Please call on any of the staff members for assistance. They are here to help you!
