QB, Lamar Blizzard looks down field for an open man....Safety, Omar Philmore lowers the boom on a Ram receiver and knocks the ball loose.   The VSU Trojans defeated the Rams 13-8, in the season's opener.

VSU started the 2004 season just like they ended the 2003 season, with a victory.  Before a crowd of almost 3,000 inside Rogers Stadium, VSU took everything that Shepherd University could dish out to improve their record to 1-0 overall.

The Trojans started scoring in the first quarter with (QB) Lamar Blizzard making his first career start wearing the Trojans' orange and blue.  Blizzard hit (WR) P.J. Berry for a 21-yard touchdown strike which happened to be Berry's only catch of day.

VSU increased their lead to 13-0 in the third quarter after Lamar Blizzard connected with (WR) Jerome Jeter for an 83-yard touchdown up the right sideline.  Jeter finished the day with 5 catches for 127 yards and touchdown.  Jeter was selected as the CIAA Reciever Of The Week for week #1.
