    Virginia State University is one of the nine Virginia public universities to a be a part of MITRE of its newly launched University Innovation Exchange. MITRE’s University Innovation Exchange is a partnership among participating Virginia public universities, the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia (SCHEV), the Virginia Economic Development Partnership (VEDP), and the Fairfax County Economic Development Authority (FCEDA).

  • Attorney Raul R. Herrera is VSU’s Newest Board of Visitor

    Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam has appointed Raul R. Herrera, an attorney with Arnold & Porter LLP, to the Virginia State University (VSU) Board of Visitors. Gov. Northam also reappointed Michael Flemming, general counsel, Smithfield Foods, Inc.; Glenn D. Sessoms, a retired FedEx executive; and Wayne Turnage, deputy mayor for Washington, D.C., Health and Human Services, to the VSU Board.

    The Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF) recognized Trojan Destiny Hodges as a 2019 HBCU Competitiveness Scholars. Destiny is one of 20 students from 14 of TMCF’s member-schools selected. Each academic year, the White House Initiative on historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs) bestows their highest student recognition on undergraduate, graduate, and professional students from our nation’s 101 HBCUs.

    Virginia State University (VSU) is proud to announce that Congresswoman Lucy McBath and Senator Jennifer McClellan will be the 2019 Spring Commencement speakers. VSU’s Commencement Ceremony is scheduled for Sunday, May 19 in the VSU Multipurpose Center. Senator McClellan will deliver the commencement address at the 9 a.m. ceremony and Congresswoman McBath will deliver the commencement address at the 2 p.m. ceremony.

    Recently, 14 Virginia State University (VSU) students in the Reginald F. Lewis College of Business participated in the Virginia Future Business Leaders of America Phi Beta Lambda (FBLA-PBL) State Leadership Conference and Business Competitions in Richmond, Va. VSU placed 1st place in 8 competitions, 2nd place in 10 competitions and 3rd place in three competition.
