VSU Criminal Justice program ranked third in Virginia
Published date: November 13, 2015Correctional Officer.org has ranked Virginia State University’s (VSU) Criminal Justice program third out of 40 Virginia institutions it analyzed. VSU was the top-ranked public institution.
The rankings were based on student data, published surveys and other school and career data collected from several sources, which include government agencies The National Center for Education Statistics and The Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System.
Correctional Officer.org advocates for correctional officer education and employment for future correctional officers by corrections experts. For this most recent ranking, the organization analyzed criminal justice programs in Virginia’s four-year, two-year, and technical public and private non-profit schools. VSU’s Criminal Justice program is a concentration within the University’s Department of Sociology and Criminal Justice. That department offers undergraduate and graduate degrees in two areas: Sociology and Criminal Justice. These programs prepare students for a wide range of career options in teaching, practice and research. Majors are educated for maximum flexibility, with emphasis on developing communications, data analysis skills and the ability to think critically.
