SGA President Re-Elected to Prestigious SCHEV post
Published date: October 18, 2012
Virginia State University (VSU) Student Government Association President Brandon Randleman was recently re-elected Vice Chairman of the Student Advisory Committee for The State Council of Higher Education for Virginia (SCHEV).
Randleman, a senior, political science major from Windsor, VA, also serves as the student representative on VSU’s Board of Visitors. During the 2011-2012 academic year, the Student Advisory Committee supported and strongly advocated for Gov. Bob McDonnell’s “Top Jobs” legislation. This effort led to the General Assembly passing the landmark, $250.3 million higher education bill.
The SCHEV Student Advisory Committee meets twice each semester to discuss issues such as General Assembly bills and the effect of Virginia’s budget on higher education. The Committee makes recommendations to appropriate government officials, while discussing campus-wide accomplishments and issues within the Commonwealth’s public higher education system.
