DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Family Resource Management Extension Specialist is responsible for developing, implementing and evaluating nationally recognized and impact-driven research-based Extension educational programs in the area of family resource management with emphasis on family financial management. Additionally, the Extension/Specialist/Faculty is responsible for engaging in professional activities related to research in the discipline, effective teaching, and significant service to the University, profession, students and the community. Prepare publications and scholarly works, articles, bulletins, and scientific articles for informational and educational purposes and perform other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by the Dean/Extension Administrator or his/her designee. The Extension Specialist holds statewide responsibilities in the program area. The incumbent will have appointment in Extension and may have appointment in Teaching and/or Research as well. The successful candidate must be able to travel, to provide support to counties, participate in the collaborative work with committees and other organizations, and attend national meetings and conferences.
Candidate should hold an earned doctorate in financial management, family economics, consumer economics, family resource management or a related field. Applicants with a Master’s degree and substantial work toward the completion of a doctorate in one of the stated disciplines may be considered. The successful candidate must have considerable knowledge of subject/field including current developments in Extension programs and skills in Extension program development. The incumbent must demonstrate knowledge and experience in developing, implementing, planning, conducting and evaluating participatory Extension or non-formal education programs. Candidate must have knowledge of educational technologies and their appropriate use in the development and delivery of educational programs; and, knowledge and willingness to involve and manage volunteers in the program development process. The selected candidate must have the ability to develop effective curriculum materials; to apply technical knowledge and expertise to solve problems in the program area; and, to interact directly with Extension agents, specialist/faculty and numerous interdisciplinary colleagues and Extension personnel across the state. The individual must show evidence of growing responsibility and accomplishments in research and Extension, as well as, proficiency in teaching. The selected candidate must be committed to work with diverse clientele and have some experience in working with such audiences.
Certification in financial management and/or planning will be an advantage.
