Associate/Assistant Professor Animal Science (Extension/Research)

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  

 Directs and coordinates the outreach and producer interface activities of the small ruminants (goat/sheep) program. Coordinates and conducts the program field days(s), producer workshops, site visits and tours. Assists in the design and execution of applied research projects, based on current and emerging needs, challenges and opportunities relative to small ruminant’s production and marketing. Implements on-farm and off-farm small ruminants demonstration projects. Maintains and enhances the program Internet web site, and develops other educational materials, including fact sheets. Serves as point of contact for inquiries into program activities and performs other duties as assigned. Conducts teaching for academic credit in the School of Agriculture when assigned.  

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

Ph.D. in Animal Science is required. Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with small ruminants (goat/sheep) production. Background in animal breeding desirable. Skills in the use of personal computers, to include word-processing, spreadsheets and database are required. Knowledge of web page design and maintenance is required. Excellent organizational skills are required. Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing. Experience in working with diverse socio-economic, ethic, gender and age audiences is required.
