The Department of Mathematics & Computer Science at Virginia State University (VSU) invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position open to the ranks of assistant/associate professor.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Teach a range of undergraduate and graduate level Mathematics courses to majors and non-majors. Develop undergraduate curriculum in Mathematics and Mathematics Education. Other duties include, but are not limited to: developing course curriculum as needed; consulting with the university's Division of Teacher Education providing academic advisement; participating in scholarly and research activities; and serving on departmental, school and university committees.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Candidates must possess a Master’s degree in Mathematics and an earned doctorate degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Mathematics Education or Curriculum and Instruction. The candidate must be committed to and demonstrate a record of outstanding teaching performance. The successful candidate will exhibit a record of scholarly publications and presentations, as well as, the potential or ability to establish research programs in their area of expertise that involve undergraduate students. The selected candidate must possess excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to teach and work with persons from culturally and ethnically diverse backgrounds. Current or previous (Virginia or other state) Secondary Teaching Endorsement is preferred.
