Financial Services Specialist I
The Agricultural Research Station is seeking a superb individual who will strengthen and increase the level of sponsored research conducted at Virginia State University (VSU).
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The incumbent in coordination with the Agricultural Research Station (ARS) faculty and staff will be responsible for the preparation of complex proposals in response to appropriate Request for Proposals; prepare, review, negotiate agreements, and liaison with sponsors. The incumbent will provide information, instruction, and training to faculty, administrators, and other personnel (as appropriate) as it relates to contracts and grants. The incumbent will also be responsible for conducting need assessments; developing, writing, and submitting grant proposals and contracts to funding agencies; reviewing proposals for compliance with VSU, State and sponsor requirements. The incumbent will work with various contractual funding instruments including grants, cooperative agreements, contract sub-awards, and interagency agreements.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Considerable knowledge of grant writing/management in higher education environment. Demonstrated ability to utilize state-of-the-art computational approaches to include appropriate computer software programs. Demonstrated ability to use Microsoft Office products to include Word and Excel. Strong technical writing skills. Demonstrated ability in preparing budgets for complex proposals. Considerableknowledge of federal and state grants management documents, laws, and regulations. Demonstrated leadership skills to develop and pursue innovative strategies to enhance both core discipline and interdisciplinary research activities and public-private partnerships. Strong management and interpersonal skills.
