Information Technology Specialist II
The IT Asset Manager is to manage the day-to-day operations of IT asset management inclusive of software compliance and configuration management within the IT department. The selected candidate will responsible for IT Asset Management life cycle, from acquisition to disposal, to ensure compliance with the Commonwealth of Virginia Information Technology Security Standards (SEC-501) and University IT Security policies and procedures. The IT Asset Manager will develop and implement policies and procedures for tracking and control of University’s assets throughout the asset lifecycle. The selected candidate will also assist with the University’s Information Technology Asset Management (ITAM) Program and participate on the Change Advisory Board. This position reports directly to the Deputy CIO of IT Administration.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Considerable knowledge in software and IT asset management policies and procedures. Develop and maintain processes for managing and tracking IT assets, software license. Perform reconciliation audits to compare installed software against licensed software and identification of gaps to ensure the University remains compliant to contractual true-up and true-down cycles. Research industry best practices to establish benchmarks for software and IT asset management. Considerable knowledgeable of the Commonwealth data removal process and/or records retention and destruction policies and procedures. Maintain vendors master service agreements to ensure compliance and optimize use of IT assets. Manage multiple projects regarding project statuses and deadlines.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and 5-8 years' experience in asset management software and/or inventory tracking system, contract management, purchasing and procurement capacity, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of software licensing agreements. Knowledgeable of the Commonwealth of Virginia Information Technology Security Standards (SEC-501) to include the data removal process and/or records retention and destruction processes. Experience with Symantec Altiris IT Asset Management Suite. Knowledge of lifecycle asset management practices. Strong interpersonal communication skills and the ability to maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, vendors, suppliers, contractors, and the public.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: ITIL Foundation Course, Certified Software Asset Manager, Advance Software Asset Manager, and/or Certified Hardware Asset Management Professional through IBSMA, SIIA, IAITAM, or BSA.
