Information Technology Specialist I

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  This position serves as the Information Technology Specialist for the School of Agriculture. The incumbent provides first-level technical support for it related services (computer and peripheral equipment, network and telecommunications devices, audio and video equipment). Manages the set-up, maintenance and operations of computers and multi-media equipment. Makes recommendations for enhancements in information and communication technology for the School of Agriculture to improve efficiency and effectiveness. Maintains accurate inventory records for all IT equipment assigned to the School of Agriculture. Collaborates with the University‘s Web Master to develop and maintain the School of Agriculture’s Internet and Intranet sites, ensuring that content is up-to-date at all times. Develops stand-alone and web-based database solutions. Develops user manuals and provides training to faculty and staff as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:  Demonstrated working knowledge and demonstrated skills in the use of IT equipment maintenance. Working knowledge of web and application development is desirable. Strong technical skills, including software installation and database management are required. Excellent verbal and written skills. College degree in information systems or equivalent combination of course work, experience and training in computer systems concepts and design. Associate in computer science, information technology/systems or a related field or equivalent combination of education, training and experience
