Human Resources Analyst I

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Virginia State University is seeking a highly skilled individual to serve as the Compensation Analyst within the Office of Human Resources.  The incumbent will be responsible for providing comprehensive administration of compensation and classification actions for the University community, as well as, the administration of leave.  Duties include interpreting and providing administrative oversight and consultation to management and employees regarding the implementation of all HR leave policies; making classification determinations for position establishment, reallocations and progressions; and, assist departments with developing organizational structure; making initial FLSA determinations and periodically auditing positions to validate FLSA determinations; conducting all salary surveys; developing and maintaining salary market databases; and, responding to requests for salary and position information.  Additional duties include the coordination of the performance management program; making and approving salary determinations for employees; performing comprehensive compensation reviews/evaluations to ensure appropriate compensation, classification, internal equity and organizational impact; ensuring HR Information System data integrity; and, interpreting and administer all record management policies and procedures related to HR.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

 

Demonstrated knowledge of compensation administration, job analysis, and performance management administration. Demonstrate ability to perform salary and classifications determinations. Knowledge of leave administration policies and procedures.  Demonstrated ability processing and administering leaving accounting.   Excellent oral and written communication skills.  Strong skills in researching, analyzing, and organizing data, specifically salary survey data. Competence in navigating websites and other web resources. Considerable knowledge of human resource business functions.  Considerable skill in the use of Microsoft office suite and Human Resource Information Systems.  Bachelor’s degree in human resource or business administration or an equivalent combination of training and experience indicating the possession of the preceding knowledge, skills and abilities to perform requirements may substitute for the education and knowledge requirement.

 

Preferred QUALIFICATIONS

PHR, SPHR, or other professional certification in the human resources field desired.
