    Ettrick, VA – Returning home after a long stretch of away games, the Trojans of Virginia State University hosted their first CIAA conference opponent of the season, Shaw University. The Trojans were seeking their first home win of the 2012 season, but came up short 16-6.

    Virginia State University’s two rookie student-athletes Joshua Markins (freshman/ Colonial Heights, VA) and Nicholas Christopher (freshman/ Dinwiddie, VA) were both named to the 2012 CIAA Baseball All-Tournament team, a great accomplishment for the Trojans.

  • Genchi and Clary named to All-Tournament Team, Trojan Golf places fourth at CIAA Southern Division Tournament

    The Virginia State men’s golf team placed fourth in the CIAA Southern Division Tournament played at the Pine Hollow Golf Course in Clayton, NC. Two Trojans were named to the all-tournament team, Stephen Genchi and Adam Clary.

    Virginia State University’s men’s basketball coaching staff has announced their 2012-13 recruiting class for the upcoming season. Last season, first year head coach Darryl Jacobs and the Trojans started out slowly but found a way to finish the season off strong. The Trojans’ coaching staff has brought in several transfers and a freshman to Virginia State University.

  • Trojans Place Second at CIAA Outdoor Track and Field Championship

    Virginia State University’s men’s outdoor track and field team placed second overall with 88 total points at the 2012 CIAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Saturday, April 21st. The Trojans were runners-up to St. Augustine’s College (216).

  • Emmanuel Haug Named a 2012 ITA Scholar Athlete

    Virginia State University’s Emmanuel Haug (senior/ Las Vegas, NV) was named a 2012 Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Scholar Athlete. Haug played number one singles and number one doubles positions for the Trojans tennis team in the 2011-12 season.

  • Lady Trojans Softball Falls To Lady Rams in CIAA Championship Game

    Virginia State University’s softball team fell to the Lady Rams of Winston-Salem State University in the 2012 CIAA Softball Championship game. The Lady Trojans dropped their first game 1-0 and then lost the second game 3-0.

  • VSU Earns Three All-American Trophies at the NCAA D-II Track and Field Championships

    Samantha Edwards competed in the women’s 200m and 400m dashes, while Daniel Ross ran in the men’s 400m hurdles at the 2012 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships at the Neta and Eddie DeRose Thunderbowl on the Colorado State University-Pueblo campus.
