VSU's Jason-Lamont Jackson Named CIAA's Women's Outdoor Track & Field Coach of the Year

Virginia State University’s Jason-Lamont Jackson was named the 2012 CIAA Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Coach of the Year. This was announced on Tuesday, May 8th by the CIAA Track and Field Coaches Association.

The complete list of 2012 Signees at Virginia State is complete. Head coach Andrew Faison and the Trojans announced the signing of 13 high school and college transfers. Overall, the 13 signees included (5) offensive lineman, (4) defensive lineman, (2) linebackers, (1) defensive back, and (1) running back.

VSU Hosts First Annual SAAC Student-Athlete Week

During the week of April 23-27, 2012, Virginia State University’s Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) hosted its 1^st Annual SAAC Student-Athlete Week. During this week, the VSU student-athletes were provided with a different fun activity each day. The purpose of this week was to celebrate a year of success in athletics and academics. The activities were created to increase unity among teams and bring an ending to a great year!

Lady Trojans Win 4x400 Heat at 2012 Penn Relays

VSU’s women’s 4x400 meter relay team of Alicia Terry (freshman/ Roanoke, VA), Samantha Edwards (senior/ Elmont, NY), Sierra Clayton (senior/ Chesapeake, VA) , and Jovonne Tyson-King (junior/ Pontiac, MI) won their heat at the 2012 Penn Relays on Thursday, April 26th in Philadelphia, PA. This is Virginia State’s first Penn Relays plaque for the women’s 4x400 team since 1988.
